It seems whenever something like alcohol, or widening the tent, or such issues arise, the discussion becomes most heated. In heated discussions we say things we would not have said were our emotions under control.
This week while I have been in El Salvador much heated debate took place here on this blog. On two different posts in the comment section I asked numerous times to stay away from ad-hominal approaches. Both sides of the debate seemed to see the other side attacking, rather than dealing with the issues…I think they were both right to a degree.
I have never removed comments because of ad-hominal statements. The reason: it becomes very subjective and I would be accused of allowing some to stand while removing others. Further, a large number of ad-hominem statements are made towards me and I did not want to appear as if I was removing those who disagreed with me…such practice is not open-minded. Finally, I think many times in an ad-hominem statement there is an accompanying comment that actually deals with the issues. Therefore, MY practice has always been to continually caution others while allowing all comments and questions without fear, for we are about truth and truth never needs to run.
I will share more on this soon. But for now, I will not allow any comments that attack individuals. I know this is subjective and so if you feel I am enforcing this with a bias please e-mail me your concerns. I will continue to allow anonymous comments because of the many Missionaries who read and may desire to comment. I do not check ISP’s currently, and have no reason to begin with our new rule in place.
I like to believe we can discuss without devolving into character assassinations. We are about the issues here and will seek truth and answer any and all hard questions. Truth will win the day. Some have warned me that commenters are making remarks in order to discredit this blog. My response has been - people can read this blog, my posts and my comments and make decisions for themselves. I have stated on numerous occasions: if I have said anything slanderous, unChristlike, or erroneous I will be glad to remove it. I certainly try to be a no-spin zone and now with the new rule (which I feel I am compelled to enforce) we will be spin-free (to the degree it is possible) in our comments also.
God Bless

Brad,
after all your attempts to stop the nonsence why do you think the attacks continue? why do these outrageous characters gravitate to this blog?
I'm being serious my brother and not attacking YOU. Not at all, I've read your posts and your comments and am befuddled as to the type that is gravitating to this blog, dispite your efforts.
Why do some people feel at home, here, to launch such outrageous rants?
irreverend fox
Wade and a friend of mine both said it could be people who actually are not with me, and are pretending to be, in order to make my blog look bad.
I don't think so, I think that we are all capable of error in our comments...I've noticed some of yours that I would personally remove.
I think people feel comfortable just speaking their minds here, and they get emotional.
Hope that answers your question.
BR
correction:
how it COULD come off to a church planter in Wadsworth Ohio.
Brad:
I thought I would point out, as I'm sure you are aware, there is no such thing as an "ad hominal" argument. There are "ad hominem" and "argumentum ad personam," but "ad hominal" is an absurd and awkward neologism.
Perhaps thats why you're having trouble with the comment threads? Nobody knows what "ad hominal" means.

Welcome revbubbabear, uh Bill Dickson, er Terrence, uh L.T., er I mean whoever you are.

Per my new rules I am removing your comment for the name calling. I will be glad to post it if you can refrain from calling others names
I certainly appreciate your concern, though and I sincerely thank you
BR
Ben
Good to have you here. Thanks for the correction. You are pretty good at that. Now my friend, your turn. You called me and corrected me about a comment I made in the comment section of one of my posts about knowing "why you were fired." even though I heard it from someone you told.
And yet, you POST the reason Patterson was fired at Criswell College was "for alleged financial irregularities..." allow me to ask you the same question you asked me, "have you seen the personel records?" If not, then let me state as you told me, "You do not know the reason he was fired." I will expect a correction as you expected of me, and I gave. Furthermore, Dr. Patterson wasn't even fired!!!
To not correct certainly causes concerns about other things you post.
Blessings my friend
BR
Bro. Robin,
Thanks for your words and encouragement. I don't know Ben's motives either but it doesn't matter to me.
While God has blessed me with quantitative and analytical aptitude, verbal aptitude has never been a strength of mine. I gladly admit it. I'm very content to be who God created me to be without any pretence, and yet I do desire to grow for His glory. I am secure in who I am in Christ and will gladly admit I will probably make more verbal mistakes in my life, but hopefully I will continue to be guarded against purposeful sin.
I do appreciate learning this lesson and hopefully I won't commit the mistake again.
BR
Brad,
I understand, I thought I could use the word "kooks" so long as I was not aiming that discription at an individual, directly. I'll do my level best to be as politically correct as possible my friend. I'm not against you, we are brothers and co-laborers and I am positive that we would be great friends if we met personally.
bears and foxes up in here....oh my! bubbabear, you sound like my kind of feller. i too was wondering what kind of language ben cole was using with all that ada whatever. i like simple words. i am a simple feller.
bubba bear, where are you from?
volfan007
In my opinion, people use Ad Hominem attacks (inadvertently or advertently) for a few different reasons.
1) They do not know how to argue their point (attacks the person instead of the argument).
2) They have been confronted with evidence that breaks down their argument and they feel backed into a corner (afraid to lose their position, so attack like a scared cat).
3) They have not been trained properly in philosophy/logic (thinks attacking the person is equal to attacking the argument - slightly different than #1 above).
4) They are just emotional - I believe Luther was like this - He would call you all sorts of names if you disagreed with a position he thought was the truth. This actually seems normal when reading historical writings.
In my opinion, the best thing to do when you are confronted with an Ad Hominem attack is to recognize it and point it out. Do not resort to the same, keep your arguments solid and fallacy-free. In the long-run you will notice that you will become more confident in your arguments if they are free from Ad Hominem attacks (or any other logical fallacy).
My 2 Cents,
Charles Henry
P.S. There is also room for some "Ad Hominem" language when in a discussion with people to which you are close. For instance, when I argue with my friends we often tell each other they are "drunk" or "stupid" or whatever - this is not an attempt to discredit the other person, but to show the person that either we do not agree or that their argument is absurd. Unfortunately these sort of words can really only happen between close friends/family. So it is best to refrain from this sort of language when you are on blogs or some medium that other people will see and may not know whether or not you are attacking or friendly jesting.
i just wanted to say that my comments were not an ad hominey, or ad vertisement, or ad whatever, on anybody. i'm just dealing with the issues. i wasnt mad at anyone, and i wasnt trying to do spy work on anybody, and i aint trying to be a meany. also, i am not the grinch that stole christmas, and i aint bigfoot.

We have no desire to politically correct here but we have of necessity had to remove all ad hominen statements even if it is toward a group simply because of the abuses we have had the past few days. I think this is a misfortune because as Charles Henry points out some have not been trained to refrain from doing so and I think we all are very capable and willing when we are discussing issues near our heart like the SBC. I like to believe people’s motives are pure. And I have no doubt we would be friends if we met I’ve never met anyone I disliked…moreover I know we are brothers and so there is the fellowship we have in Christ.

200!!!
Last night I watched as a lady who is new to sharing Christ began sharing with another...it was truly awesome.
The church here will follow up on every decision...some of our translators are individuals we have seen come to faith on some of our previous visits and are now in the ministry.

Brad,
What part should I Change in This Comment, if any.
Brad,
Brad I don't see that you removed all the comments and your post. But you left the one up that Glorify Who. What are you trying to accomplish by removing the comments that were pointing to the slanders and leaving the dirty pointing comments that slander Wade, Ben and Me. It's now 4 days later.
IMHO I thing you need to ask God for forgiveness for your lack of actions and Make some Apologies to some Brother in Christ also asking for forgiveness.
Your posts starting at
1. My Statement on Alcohol
2. Here I Stand...Redeemed
May God Forgive you and you're a Pastor and Professor in a Baptist Seminary!!!

I'll let the comment stand...but let's keep things Christlike here.
I remove comments from anonymous if they ask me too, because they are unable too. Anyone who posts that is not anonymous can remove their own. I never removed ad-hominem comments on my own, before this week...but it got kind of bad while I was down here in El Salvador (which is frustrating for me - because instead of getting rest from the hot days like the rest of my team I am attending this blog more heavily than normal).
Wade and Marty seem glad I removed those comments and you seem unhappy. Do you see I am in a no-win situation. If I don't remove them I am condoning them according to some...if I do remove them I am covering for them. That's why the new policy is applicable to all ad-hominem statements.
I think all who read this blog know how fair I have been to allow both sides, up until today, to make ad-hominem statements...I don't like it and believe it to be the lowest form of debate...but I allowed it because sometimes in their comment they have legitimate concerns, although they expressed it wrongly. Further, it takes a lot more time to read the comments very carefully, to be sure to attack on a person is being made.
I will not apply it retoactively because it was not a policy before, and further I would be going back for months.
I have been accused of being a hireling, a legalist (the equivalent of a heretic) and more...its part of the blog world, sadly.
I defy you to find a place where I have said something false about an individual. Even when I felt I had accurately portrayed an individual and he confronted me and told me I hadn't, I immediately apologized and corrected it.
In the context of the comments you speak of, the Holy Spirit revealed again how He is capable of changing individuals' hearts when we give him time.
Many times on blogs people just write on the spur of the moment, in the heat of hurt, and that is unwise. But God is gracious to speak to His children when we transgress, against Him first and foremost, and then each other.
Hope this helps
BR

To avoid a lot of confusion you can change your Blog Setup to show time and date of comment. This way one can give you the information for correction, if and when someone steps over the Line.

Brad,
I am glad to hear that your trip was such an amazing time. Praise the Lord that He ushered so many into the Kingdom. It is refreshing to see that there are still those who are busy doing the Kings business rather than being distracted by "lesser" things. At HGBC we baptized two precious souls this past Sunday.
I am so frustrated at the moment at the continued debate, but I guess I can expect no less. The SBC appears to be in for "the fight of/for its life again." May God guide us as we seek to maintain the godly heritage that has been laid for us, while seeking to "make disciples of all nations." I want to encourage all to keep your focus on the main thing, while at the same time, defending the TRUTH, which is more than a thing but is first and foremost the person of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:6). God bless.
Serving Him,
Pastor Mike

Thanks for your help I will get to it perhaps Sunday. Still sharing Christ here - over 300 professions so far...and many thought Central America was reached.
Praise be to God.

Pastor Mike and bubba bear,
Much is wrong with the scenario posed by Wade not the least of which is that we are a group of churches organized to do missions under the guidelines of the BFM2K...we are not a universal church.
Moreover who defines what are and are not third tier doctrines?, who says when a people group is reached? (do we assume El Salvador is reached as many do - even though we have seen over 300 professions this week). In his scenario what has happened to the Romanian Baptist Convention and others? - who decides who is in and out? Do we bring in the World Baptist Alliance? How liberal shoud we become for the sake of missions and ecumenicalism?
I think a more real scenario will be an alternate World Baptist Group (one that is not associated with the world baptist alliance) which is an association of the SBC and RBC and other conservative baptist.
BR
bear:)
I know I seem subjective in applying my rule because many commentes are on the border either way with implications.
I feel I will probably be more apt to apply it more strictly to those who seem to agree with me than those who don't so I can avoid the appearance of bias.
We truly want to be an example here of a blog seeking truth rather than a blog where our buddies encourage us and our opponents are not heard.
Hope this answers your concerns.
BR
Brad,
A question to ponder: Should an IMB missionary give his life to one place or should he minister and train in such a way that he works himself out of job? By this I mean should he teach those who are "nationals" who accept Christ in such a way that after the discipleship process has taken place he can leave them to reach the rest of their people, while he moves on to another post? Isn't this the way Paul ministered, as a "metropolitan" evangelist who trained those to then reach those araound them?
Just curious as to your thoughts considering the debate over the IMB anyway.
Serving Him,
Pastor Mike

i agree with your comment about wade's proposed world baptist convention. it really smacks of a heirachy, does it not? and, what about the 7% to the cp deal? wow, you talking about separating over third tier doctrines and practices....that's a biggy.

Brad,
Wade will not allow me to post on his site. I have cut and pasted direct quotes from his sight. I would like to know why he allows this sort of conversation to take place on his sight. I am not making any accusations, but I am asking one question. What does the following comments tell us about Wades theology and his intention for the future of the SBC?
Bill Dickson
Benjamin S Cole says:
Wade,
You'd better not let Dave Hunt or his band of apocalypse hounds get ahold of this. Next thing we know you'll be supporting the European Union and fitting into a prophetic chronology of the Tribulation.
Come to think of it...Wade Burleson. Hmm. I think the numerology of your name can be added up to 666 in some way.
Fess up, old boy. You're really preparing the soil for a one world government and church. Not to mention the Anti-Christ.
Yet another reason you should resign as trustee.
Truth of Facts Says:
1. Deny deity of Christ, need for his death, and importance of virgin birth.
2. Call for the ordination of gay, lesbian, and bisexual persons.
3. Proclaimed the Bible does not condemn all farms of homosexual behavior.
4. Call for the ordination of women as senior pastors.
5. Refer to God as “mother.”
6. Defended the reproduction and distribution of child pornography.
You seem to add the “Bible” as the hill which to die, instead of the book, “On a hill which to die.”
The BGCT looked upon this “hill” as one which to kill as seen by its many victims—seminary teachers, missionaries, and the BWA.
Truth of facts also says:
Lee beat me to the punch in squashing John’s comment of: “How can we reconcile with liberal state conventions…”
Your dream cannot happen until that fake ‘liberal or moderate/liberal’ concept dies off. In Moses’ day it took 40 years.
The above are direct quotes.
Bill Dickson,
Don't start telling more lies after your last journey. Wade would allow your comments if you were a Blogger.
Be true full to your word that you would open a Blog.
Brad this is the same person who asks for forgiveness and has not corrected his way. Read Wade's Blog for yourself and don't take the word of Troublemakers.

Pastor Mike,
My friend will you e-mail me your question and give me time to dwell on it. I don’t want to answer to quickly. I love what is being done here with pastors from El Salvador working in tandem with Missionaries from US in witnessing and planting churches under the guidance of a local church.
Wayne
We have about 18 students with us. It is amazing. Monday I went out with some ladies from a church in MS. There had never shared Christ before. I began working with them and teaching them by example and asking them to begin sharing. They did and when they got stuck I’d help out. In God’s Providence they did not have me with them tonight and had to share on their own…1 lady shared Christ and she came back so excited because she had never done so, another lady shared Christ and led her first person to Christ tonight. WOW – So amazing. Thanks for asking and God Bless You
Bill
I saw some of the comments made on Wade’s blog. Had you or another made the comment Ben made then I am sure there would have been much feuding. I think there is much subjectivity in blogging.
One thing that we do here is allow ALL people to comment! No matter who has said things in the past or who disagrees with me…we allow ALL comments because we do not fear truth. However, we have had to start removing ad-hominem comments and will continue to do so but we are very open to differing opinions. Truth does not run:)
My concern with the latest post has more to do with the content than the comments. I am oft amazed at some of his ideas. But may he continue to speak them.
TO ALL:
Let’s keep it kind. So far so good…but let’s be even better
BR
Bill
Wayne is right. Wade may post your comment if you were a blogger. You may want to try it. So it is unfair and wrong to say he won't post it, until you actually try. I think he has a policy to only allow bloggers to post. We allow anonymous here for the sake of our M's.
It is easy to become a blogger.
BR
Wayne
Please be careful about accusing Bill of not changing his way. He may not have realized fully Wade's policy. Let's remain kind.
I do not know if the other comments he stated were true I don't have time to look...but I know Ben's comment was there.
BR
Brad,
Here is the Truth as commented by Bill, good to see time and Date on comments. Three days ago and still has not opened a Blog for posting.

Anony the Quoter,
You are right. Those are all direct quotes and you have taken them out of their context, but somehow, I think you already know that to be the case.
Preachers also get things wrong when they take Scripture out of context.
Taking things out of context is never a good thing to do with the Bible. For that matter, it is not a good thing to do with the statements people make or write. It is usually foul in intent and results.
cb
i would like to ask a question...how can we join back with the baptists in texas and virginia who lean the liberal way if they continue to lean the liberal way?
also, it seems that some people are denying that our seminaries and other sbc agencies were full of liberals back before the conservative resurgence. how in the world could they beleive that?
bubba bear,
i werent tryin to put down yer granpappy about the moonshine statement, bro. i forget that you're new to this. back when certain bloggers were making a big deal out of drinking alcohol..after the sbc in greensboro...i started saying that my granpappy was gonna fire up the still again if we said that alcohol was ok to drink as a pleasure drink. thus, the joke... tongue in cheek..statement. you know, a lot of non-southerners think that we're all a bunch of moonshine drinkin hillbillies and rednecks. well, i am a hillbilly....but i do got all muh teeth, and i dont drink no moonshine. my kin did, and some of them still do. but, i dont. bubba, i am glad that you dont either.
volfan007
ps. i hope that nobody thinks that i'm a meany for saying what i did.
Bear Guy,
Den's comments were nothing other than a lark between he and Wade.
He does not deny any of the Bible. There are different views of the end times among conservatives.
As for the other quotes, simply read the comments again and you may see what I mean. If not I can't help you.
cb
Brad,
Dr. Russell Moore from Southern delivered a lecture in his classroom and Wade is taking him to task. I am a blogger and actually attempted to post my comments on his site, but has me blocked. Please allow this to be posted as I think I raise a couple of needed questions.
Wade states:
“Dr. Moore seemed to lapsed into a particularly weak, unscholarly argument about thirty minutes into his lecture that needs challenged.”
Wade, as I understand it you have no theological training at all. Who are you to call Dr. Moore unscholarly?
Wade states:
“Dr. Moore, I challenge you to show me one comment --- not several, not a few --- simply ONE comment from a Southern Baptist blog that calls someone who baptizes by immersion "Landmark."
Wade, you were not in his classroom. Why does he owe you an explanation?
Wade states:
“Again, to whom is Dr. Moore referring? Has he actually looked at the ACP (Annual Church Profile) reports of the churches of pastors who blog? I know he can't be referring to the church I pastor”
Wade does this sound proud and arrogant to you?
Wade states:
“I would urge you not to make statements within the context of a seminary lecture without verifiable support and evidence.”
Wade, once again who are you to determine Dr. Moore’s integrity as to the manner of his evidence? If you had a bit of theological training yourself you might better follow his train of thought.
Wade states:
“In other words, would you share communion with a Presbyterian believer? I would.”
Wade, that is what scares many people in the SBC. You admit that you will share communion with almost any ecumenical group out there.
You complain when people challenge you on others website, but you refuse to post my comment on your site.
CB Scott,
Please do not accuse me of taking Wade out of context as you did Bill Dickson. Please do not raise a smokescreen to protect Wade. He needs to be confronted on this issue.
Raccoon Transporter
Raccoon Guy,
You have not taken Wade out of context. You are simply debating his statements.
As far as those things Bill took out of context; they were not even quotes of Wade. Those things were said by other people.
You may confront Wade all you want. Are you really a blogger or just another flamer?
cb
CB,
I have never heard the Flamer before, but if you are accusing me of something be careful. Remember we used to run raccoons out of Florida togehter.

pastormikehgbc@bellsouth.net
Serving Him,

Raccoon Transporter,
I would be happy to answer your questions on my site.
I do not know how to block people from posting, so your lie in your comment above points to a character flaw. In addition, though you are correct that I have no formal theological degree, you are incorrect that I have no formal theological training.
My Greek is with the modern pronunciation espoused by Spiros Zodiates rather than the Erasmian dead pronunciation of the classics.
My Hebrew linguistics is not on par with Dr. Gill, who learned his in the bookshop, but is proficient. And of course, my church history is from not only personal reading but personal friendships with two of the greatest historians of our day, Dr. Tom Nettles of Lousiville and Dr. George Ella of Mullheim. Plus, I do have formal theological training in the languages and other subjects.
I take comfort in the fact that Jesus himself was questioned about his formal letters (Luke 4), and that Spurgeon, Gill, Keach and the finest theologians and pastors in our Baptist history were learned men without formal degrees.
As you remember, when Dr. Gill was bestowed his honorary doctorate for his ground breaking work on the "tittle" of Jewish literature by Aberdeen University he stated, "I never thought it, sought it, or bought it."
Should the occasion arise in my life, as early as this fall, that the same honor is bestowed upon me, I shall graciously utter the same statement as the imminent Gill, but would also add, "Nor do I want it."
:)
Hope this helps, and it would make for a much better discussion if you would identify yourself.
In His Grace,
Wade

Are you going to allow this man to sling accusations at me and he not even answer the questions I posed?

Please answer the questions.

I know of 3 persons you have blocked. I of them is Brad himself. You should appoligize for calling me a lier, but I do not expect that you will. After all, you do not even rejoice when people repent and ask you for forgiveness. This is based on your refusal to forgive the individual who claimed to see you in a unseemly part of Dallas, and then asked for forgiveness. And you still have not answered my questions.

Raccoon Guy,
A flamer is a person or group of persons that do not have blog accounts, but fire off comments on another person's blog using a false identity.
My question to you was in reference to your saying you could not comment on Wade's blog. If you have a blog account you can. If not that is due to your being a flamer.
As to you statement about me smuggling raccoons from southern states: You were never with me. All that were involved in those things are now dead except me.
That was over 30 years ago. The statute of limitations has long run out. Also, all of that is now washed away by the Blood of Jesus. If you want to talk about such things you are free to do so, for I have been made free of it.
Again, you were not with me unless you are speaking from the grave. I truly doubt you are. You may know of me or knew someone that did and that is fine. It has been a long time since I broke the law, so your little vailed threat means nothing to me. If you want to speak with me personally, let me know. I will call you.

Brother CB,
I was just attempting to use humor to get your attention. My dear brother I am sorry if I offended you. I have never heard anything about you except a funny story about you and a load of raccoons, and it was years ago. Please forgive me.
And I read Wes Kenny's blog. He has a good point. I am going to get me a raccoon blog.

some of us like to remain annonymous for varying reasons...some of those reasons are not awful, bad, cowardly reasons.
i personally remain annonymous because i approach the whole internet that way. i dont want some kook knowing who i am. i dont want them showing up on my doorstep threatening my family or such. of course, i keep a shotgun handy for such occasions, and i do know how to use it.
also, i try to make it as hard as possible for identity thiefs from stealing mine. i like my identity and dont want anyone to take it.
also, if by setting up accounts, you are talking about giving brad and wade and others my email address, and signing in on that yahoo, or whatever it was...then i guess i have an account. otherwise, i dont know what you're even talking about.
well, yall have a great day. God bless ya, everyone of ya.

Brad and All,
CB Scott shared about people posting comments without a Blog or their real name for ID. CB calls them Flamer, God sees and knows each and every thing about us and our thoughts. So lying about someone or something is a SIN. Our thoughts, just thinking can be a SIN. If we are Truly Saved the Holy Spirit resides in us and we know we have SINNED. So if the shoe fits, and you are doing it, may God Forgive You.

It is good to have you on my blog. You are welcome here. However, I believe you cannot post on Wade’s anonymously. Therefore, he probably did not block your comment and thus you were wrong. Further, since you did not know this you certainly did not commit a purposeful “lie” and Wade was wrong to imply such.
Concerning degree’s, I’m not sure they make one wise or unwise. Formal training is good and should be pursued for those in the ministry and think Dr. Mohler would agree. However, just because one does not have formal training does not necessitate error.
Nevertheless, I think the point of your comment is excellent. As I read it, you are concerned about Wade cross-examining Dr. Moore’s comments. Comments can’t respond!!! It is very very easy to cross-examine an individual’s comments but it is also a weak form of debate. Simply, because they can’t respond back. A more interesting scenario, and perhaps much more challenging for Wade, would be for him to speak personally to Dr. Moore about it. I think Dr. Moore would be up to the challenge and I also believe that is something Wade has spoken of on his blog…something about when you think someone is wrong go to them first before speaking to others. Anyway, perhaps I’ll share more in the future.
To All,
Let’s be extra diligent to be kind.

"However, I believe you cannot post on Wade’s anonymously. Therefore, he probably did not block your comment and thus you were wrong. Further, since you did not know this you certainly did not commit a purposeful “lie” and Wade was wrong to imply such."
Racoon said in his comment earlier:
"I am a blogger and actually attempted to post my comments on his site, but has me blocked ."
Racoon is saying he tried to comment using a blog name, but was denied.
He is not blocked. Nobody is blocked on my site who has has a blog account. Since he is not blocked, and he claims that he is (as well as others), what should I have called his claim?
I know what we call it in Oklahoma. I'm not sure what it's called in Virginia, but Brad if you will let me know what you believe I should call it, I will, and apologize for any misunderstanding.

Blessings,
Wade
Brad,
Wade called me a liar and you did not remove him. Wayne continues to accuse people and tell you how to run your blog, yet no removal. Why?
I do have a blogsite, but I am not in ministry just a layman in a local church. I posted on Wades site for several months, but back in late July and in early August he licked me off his site just like he did to you. I am no liar. Why not remove him?
I made one mistake and asked CB for his forgiveness. Other than that I have kind. By the way I honestly did not no that I would upset CB by joking with him. I believe him to be a good man and would never intentionally hurt him. However, Wade and Wayne continually poke at Me, Volfan, Bubba bear, and Mr. Dickson. Nither Wade nor Wayne ever answer any of the questions posed to them. Why? I dont know.
These two are using their usual smokescreen tactics and running you around trying to keep them happy.
Ask them to answer the nearly dozen questions posed on this site alone. Please do not delete the comments of others until you apply the rule equally.
Raccoon Transport
Brad,
Please forgive all the mispellings in my previous comment. I was so hurried to respond that I did not look over it before I posted. Sorry.
However, take a close look at Wades comment. IIs he being truthful or was he being disingenous?

Please apply your rules equally. You yourself know that for a time Wade refused your posts too.
R. Transport
Wade,
Why do you refuse to answer the questions????

You anonymous commentors are something else! Dr. Burleson has been exemplary in his conduct, his words, and his actions. He is also courageous and displays a brilliance that is uncommon.
All one has to do is read his posts and comments, and then compare them with your comments to know that he is a man of godly character and uncommon valor. You may think you are marginalizing him by your continuous assaults, including things said that cause Christians to blush, including this one. Nevertheless, you have made him a star in the SBC and my personal hero.
Congratulations.

It appears you are anonymous too. I sure that Wade is your hero. Jesus is mine. My point is clear.

Wow. What's happening over here? The vitriol is just spewing.

racoon,
my comments were either deleted or blocked several times by wade. that's why i quit commenting on his blog. and, i have registered.
volfan007
Wade,
On the phone I told you of two comments you refused to post of mine. I still have them and know you did not post them. This was back in May. Nevertheless, you may be posting all others. I do not know. But it would sure have been much kinder to say to Raccoon, “I think you are making a mistake and there seems to be a misunderstanding,” that seems to be a little more gentle and Christlike than, “You are a liar.” That’s how we do things in Virginia but it may be different in Oklahoma. However, if you choose to Blog like that then so be it, but I ask that you be kinder when on this blog!
Raccoon,
I have a hard time with anonymous comments anyway. But you are welcome here. As per my new rules…technically Wade has a point; if you tried to post anonymously and couldn’t post and then claim Wade kicked you off, then that is not really true, Get a blogger identity and try. Further, it is difficult to apply my new rules on comments that verge on ad hominem but “kindof are kindof aren’t.”
I have chosen to leave the comments up at this point because they seem to be unkind but not necessarily attacking a person. It is a difficult call and I struggle with many of the last 20 comments. If it gets any more unkind I’ll probably be deleting a slew. I am more cautious to delete those who don’t agree with me than those who do…for two reasons: 1) I don’t want to give those who accuse me of bias fodder (we want to be an example to other blogs of entertaining different perspectives); 2) I expect those who agree with me on the issues in the SBC to be an example.
To All:
If my application of my new rule bothers you on any comment please e-mail me. I will reread the comment. Furthermore, I apologize, I sincerely desire to do my best and I am certain at some point on my blog I will inevitably disappoint each one of you but God knows my heart and I am content with that. May He give me wisdom and grace when I am blinded. Please extend the benefit of the doubt to bloggers who maintain a site with a lot of comments…it is difficult to catch everything…although I disagree with much of what Wade has to say (more on that soon) he has a difficult chore maintaining his blog (I know) so please extend grace.
I will give an update on El Salvador tomorrow.
BR
Wade,
I feel very confident if I tried to post on your site you would let me. I don't know what has happened with these others.
Perhaps you can issue a statement here, that unless they are anonymous, they are free to post on your blog and you will not remove it unless it is mean-spirited (or whatever your rules are) no matter what they may or may not have experienced in the past.
I would much rather they ask you thier questions on your blog.
I feel confident I will be posting on your blog again and encourage others to leave the past in the past...if the problem is fixed then we should let it go.
Thank you my brother.
BR
Brad,
I may be wrong, but it seems you attempt to cast doubt on Wade's motives. Again, I could be all wet here, but when I read your comments it seems as if you show partiality toward those who are really rude toward Wade, but then you seem to chide Wade, who has been nothing but gracious while telling the truth. I may never understand what is going on, but it seems to me that somebody is either really afraid of Wade, really envious of him, or simply sees him as a big threat. But why? Aren't we all on the same team? Wade seems to think he can work with anybody and everybody. Everything you guys say to try to disparage him only makes him look better in the eyes of me and others.
Brad,
Look at what people are saying. Volfan has been kicked off of Wades site, you have been kicked off, and I DO HAVE A BLOG AND I WAS KICKED OFF TOO. I have said it 3 times now.
Wade wants me to say who I am so he can get the same person who took out the Rabbitt to take me out too.
Wade is playing games with his friends deflecting and redirecting all comments so he does not have to answer VALID QUESTIONS.
Brad,
Prove me wrong show me where Hero Wade (as he is called on this very blog- no slur intended) has answered any questions.
Pardon me what is that I hear? Silence yes silence! Wade does not have answer because he gets coddled here. Why should a hero answer to anyone?
To quote volfan007 and Bubba Bear, " I don’t want a pope! I thought this was a no spin zone, but look at how Wade is spinning things here.

G'day Brad and Wade,
I may be failing to understand something here, my Greek is pretty good. You guys may be able to instruct me, (I've only done 20 years of Greek, had a Greek friend from the island of Kithara take me through modern pronunciation 1 on 1 for three years weekly)I teach Greek to a couple of guys each week, but What does "My Greek is with the modern pronunciation espoused by Spiros Zodiates rather than the Erasmian dead pronunciation of the classics." mean?
Does it mean that if you have a Texas accent you can understand English better than an Englishman because you got a nasal twang?
It reminds me of a time I preached in Bethany OKC, and an old deacon came up after the sermon to say, "Pastorrrrrr, that wus a kangauaroooo sermon. Aaah pickt up a bit ere, an a bit therrrrre andabit aweeeeigh ooveeerrrr theaire!"
Somehow I don't think pronunciation has much at all to do about anything? Don't the words still mean the same thing? Or does something magical happen when you pronounce the words the Zodiates way?
Isn't modern greek fairly different from koine Greek of the NT, or did Wenham, Robertson and Vine get it wrong?
Should those on lesser Greek islands be told that their language is defective is perhaps something else all together (maybe a PPL?)
Maybe I am wrong, but would you guys please instruct me before I lead some Greek students astray.
Many thanks,
Steve
(not the croc hunter, but Crikey, my accent is the same).
Steve
You hav e done more greek than I have. I only have 24 hours of greek. So I will trust your wisdom here. However, I concur with you.
I know of only 12 verses in the greek NT written in classical Greek (the first 4 verses of Luke, first four of Acts and Hebrews - hummm - could Luke have written Hebrews?). The rest of the NT was written in Koine Greek. And modern Greek is fairly different.
God bless

I think it appears I am unfair because of your perspective. Both of you seem to think I am unfair to those opposite of your position. That makes me feel good. Because that is evidence that I am being somewhat fair.
Thank you for your honesty. It helps me to see how I am doing.
God bless you both
BR
Brad,
Thank you for your reply. I understand your position and I believe that you are very fair. I do have one simple request. Due to the fact that I have admitted 3 times on the blog that I have a public domain site and have been allowed on Wades site in the recent past, but am no longer allowed to post there. And due to the fact that VOLFAN has admitted he too has been refused access as well as you also. Will you concede that just possibly Wade is either mistaken or the one lying and not me? Is that possible?
I base this on one untruth posted by Wade already on your site. On your previous post Wade promised to never post on your site again for the sake of his wife, children and church. Remember when you rejoiced with the man who repented and asked Wade for forgiveness, but Wade refused to forgive him? Wade vowed to never return to your site again, yet he has posted several times here since that time.
Base on the interpretation that a lie is an untruth told to another. I think my point quite clear! Where is the integrity of a Hero who goes back on his word? Jesus never went back on his word.
So, in closing, is it possible that Wade is either mistaken or the one lying and not me? Is that possible?
Please do let him do his magic act here anymore. David Copperfield is dead and I have a headache.

Brad,
I asked you yesterday to read some above comments and I pointed out about the LYING of your FUSSY FRIENDS. It is obvious that you do not want to correct or remove their comments because they are slandering A True Brother in Christ, Wade Burleson. Wade called your attention to this matter as well and you did what, pat your Fussy Friend on the back and repute a Brother in Christ. We all are being watched every minute by Our Father and are accountable, Double Portions for Pastors. Your Fussy Friends even reference some of the comment on the 2 previous post on your Blog and point out more Slander.

Brad,
Your anonymous friends are something else. They call Wade a liar because he said he would no longer "dailogue" on your site and then get angry with him for NOT ANWERING THEIR QUESTIONS. As Wayne says, "Fuzzy Animals, you can't have it both ways." Wade seems to be a man of impeccable character, but you hide behind anonymity and sling accusations without fear of impunity. Shame on you. Grosey, it seems to me that you have no idea what you are talking about. Seminaries teach classical Greek proncunciation the Ersmian stye and if you can order of a modern Greek menu at your favorite deli in Greece you may be red faced before it is over. No wonder Dr. Burleson refuses to dialogue with you people. There are more important things in this world for him to do.
Wayne,
You my dear precious beloved righteous brother are the fussy ONE. You fuss and whine but never reply yo questions with solid biblicl answers. Yes my dear friend we will all stand before our Lord and give an account in cluding you.

You say Wade has more important thing to do. Are you blind?
Like what. On Wades on site people are telling him that he has a huge fan club in Texas and even on this site people are calling him a Hero. You say he is a man of impecible integrity?
The man is an admitted drinker of alcohol(who will abstain while a trustee) who call people liars although 3 on this site have proved that he selects who he will allow to post or not. A man who is a pastor who refuses to forgive a repentant man.
If this is your man of integrity, your hero, the man of your fan club, well you may follow him wherever he leads you. But I will follow Jesus. I know where He is headed.

I do not know who all is involved, but I doubt it is Wade and Ben.
By the way you mispelled Ben's last name. It is Ben Cole and I seriously doubt that he is flaming. Normally he is quite precise in the use of his words and proud enough of them to tag them with his real name. I doubt Ben is a flamer.

This is simply unbelievable. I have had a blog for a few years now and I don't even know how to ban someone from posting.
My understanding is that you can adminstrate comments so as to not let them through with approval. Or, you can let them post and later delete them. If a comment is deleted blogger will tell you whether the blog adminstrator or the commentor deleted it. Seems pretty simple.
When I comment on here or on Wade's blog the comment shows up immediately.
Now, if anyone claims that they are actually banned from Wade's blog will you please walk me through the steps to block someone using blogger? I don't see a command in the dashboard that allows this so help me out please.

Will you please stop attacking Brad? He has been in Latin America sharing the Gospel while you guys have been tearing each other down. Pronunciation has to do with spoken Greek, (it has to do with accent) how you say the words. it has nothing to do with:
Classical Greek (the LXX the septuagint.. the greek translation of the old testament prior to 200 BC, and several classical works as well , hence "classics", is in classical Greek)
Koine Greek, the words ar different with different grammatical structures to classical Greek.
Modern Greek, : about 50% of the words are different and again with a somewhat "easier" grammatical structure.
The comment highlights a problem of a limited theological education where "dumb" comments lead one to recognise that a fella hasn't got a clue of what he is talking about when he makes "knowledgeable" comments that are just plain ludicrous.
"Pronunciation" has to do with how the words are sounded.
The sounds you make when you say the same word may differ from culture to culture y'all.
As an aussie, in a shop in Oklahoma (sorry "store") the checkout gal said "y'all come bacjk real soon y'here?" to me after a purchase, so I did. Straight away. I was wondering what she wanted to tell me. I came back three times, before I understood that this was Oklahoman for "goodbye!"
"y'all" isn't something you stick in your ear to show you are a good slave ("your awl") its a matter of pronunciation.
"y'all come back real soon y'hear" Is a matter of a new grammatical style, such as the difference between Koine and Classical greek, and thirdly Modern greek.
But every MDiv 1st year student should know that.
Steve

Something really smells fishy here.
